A microfilm copy of a ts manuscript for a book entitled 'From Pisspot to Schneider: A Personal Story of the RAF's First Ten Years' (327pp) covering his joining the Royal Air Force in 1918, flying with No 83 Squadron, including being shot down behind enemy lines and having to walk back over 13 miles to allied lines, serving in Iraq with No 6 Squadron for two years after the war, including being awarded the DFC in 1921, taking an instructors course at the Central Flying School, Upavon, taking command of the RAF's High Speed Flight, Air Speed Experimental Section, in 1928, aiming for the world air speed record and despite beating it not having the speed recognised as it was too close to the previous, his award of the AFC, and taking part in the Schneider Trophy air race (1929), in which he came third.
