Ms airmail letter (4pp) written to his mother in Llandaff, Cardiff, by Jim Monteith while serving as a Gunner in 55th Battery, 302nd East African Field Regiment, East African Artillery (11th (East Africa) Division), discussing his arrival in Ceylon (October 1943), lack of entertainment and church facilities, his best friend being posted elsewhere, his Sergeant being related to someone they know, the better conditions on the journey to Ceylon, lack of leave, help being given to theological students hoping to go in to the Church after the war, and also includes cut out censorship holes.
