A copy of a brief ts account (3pp, written June 1990) relating to his evacuation as a schoolboy from William Morris Central School, Walthamstow, London, to Blaenavon, Monmouthshire, he and his brother being taken in by Jack and Ada Webb and their family, details of life in Blaenavon, schooling, and time in the Air Training Corps, the account being written for circulation at the school's 50th anniversary reunion in which he was the principal organiser [See also accounts in 'Collected Accounts of Walthamstow Evacuees to Blaenavon, Monmouthshire, 1940 - 1943, Miscellaneous 3992, Documents.19706]. Together with a ts account (9pp, written April 2015) about volunteering for the Navy at 17 (late 1943), training in Bristol, details of the different types of trainees, officer training at the shore establishment HMS GLENDOWER at Pwheli, Gwynedd, Wales, not passing the course and training as a Stores Assistant, Supply and Secretariat Branch, training at HMS PRESIDENT V, Highgate School, London, drafting to the cruiser HMS SUSSEX (June 1944), refitting for anti-aircraft, being promoted and returning to Chatham, sailing in HMS SEFTON to Ceylon, hearing of the death of Hitler (April 1945), drafting to HMS MAYINA, a clearing base near Colombo, Ceylon, moving to HMS BRAGANZA, the naval base at Bombay, India, the end of the war (August 1945), details of life in India during the last days of the Raj, singing in a choir and attending a Christmas function hosted by Admiral Bevir (December 1945), dinner at the home of Sir Hugh Clayton, leave in Naini Tal, tea with Lieutenant General Sir Geoffrey Scoones in Agra, closing down the stores and returning home (June 1946), joining the aircraft carrier HMS FORMIDABLE, demobilisation and joining the Royal Fleet Reserve, being recalled during the Korean War (July 1951) and spending his time at the training establishment at HMS GANGES, Shotley, Suffolk.
