Ms diary (2 February - 31 December 1945) describing her experiences as a 16-17 year old on the Home Front in Wallington during the Second World War recording details of her daily activities and social life, her experiences notably on VE Day and VJ Day and at Harvest Camp near Metheringham, Lincolnshire (28 July-11 August); recording her thoughts and opinions notably of the Labour victory in the general election (26 July) which she describes as "awful", and the dockers' strike (11 October); mentioning also her Church attendance, shopping, 'loud bangs' (V weapon attacks, February - March), films seen, a holiday in Bexhill (8 - 15 September), and numerous dances; the diary is signed on the inside front cover by her classmates at Sutton High School and affixed to the inside back cover is an annotated Chart of London general election results 1945; together with a ms letter (2pp, 30 August 1942) from her grandfather on her return to Sutton after her evacuation to her grandparents in Gloucestershire in 1942; a loose ms diary entry for D-day (6 June 1944) reporting the events of the day as heard on the news programmes; and a portrait photograph.
