Transcription (6pp ts) of his personal account of 'The Battle of Horns Reef, May 31st 1916' (Battle of Jutland), written shortly after the events described from his perspective in the Royal Navy seaplane tender HMS ENGADINE, the initial order to 'raise steam' and proceeding out into the North Sea towards the German High Seas Fleet, his dramatic view of the Jutland action from ENGADINE's decks, taking in tow the badly damaged cruiser HMS WARRIOR away from the scene of action and amidst fears of attack by German U-boats, the care of survivors from the WARRIOR who were taken aboard the seaplane carrier when the towing operation was abandoned due to heavy seas and the cruiser's condition (she foundered shortly afterwards), returning to port ahead of the other British ships and describing the damage inflicted on many of them after a victory "very dearly bought", concluding with his reflections on the battle and ENGADINE's part in it, and his pride in her rescue of a substantial number of WARRIOR's crew.
