Papers kept by Captain Charles Oades, serving in Special Operations Executive (SOE) Force 133 and Force 399, relating to the loading of ammunition and other items for dropping from planes, probably for operatives in Yugoslavia, comprising: a ts draft memo entitled 'Stores Demands and the Reception of Sorties' (June 1944[?] (6pp)), with details of how requests can be made, demands based on the 'List of Standard Packs' (code name 'Snowball'), the reception of sorties and signals and codes between plane and ground, advice on choice of dropping ground and the distribution and the carrying of loads, and requirement for a drop report; a ts 'Loading Table for Captured Ammunition' (6pp, n.d.) giving types of German and Italian ammunition of all kinds, and giving details of the number of rounds per box, weight per box (lbs), average rounds per ton, and tons per 1,000 rounds; and various ts notes and appendices to 'Notes on Loads' (7pp, November 1943), giving details of Weights of Standard Packs (Weapons, Ammunition, Mines and Grenades, Wireless/Telegraphy equipment, rations, medical equipment, tents etc), types of dropping equipment, (canisters, containers, kitbags etc), their measurements, weight including parachute, and net payload of stores, the Load Weight Capacity of Aircraft, Method of Packing items, and a note (2pp) on weight (tons per thousand) of Allied ammunition.
