A ts account (3pp) entitled 'Shadowing the Bismarck', written a week after the events described, by an officer serving in the Cruiser HMS SUFFOLK when she shadowed the BISMARCK and PRINZ EUGEN in May 1941, with descriptions of his grandstand view of the opening action, his reaction to the loss of HMS HOOD, and the firing between SUFFOLK and the German battleships. Together with: a ts report (1p) by Mr P H S Morey about the Radio Direction Finder (RDF) situation at Gibraltar, December 1941; ms notes (1p) with details of modifications to RF; a ts report (2pp) of working ot Type 271 on passage to Gibraltar (November - December 1941); three ts passes allowing Akehurst permission to travel and entered restricted areas (August - December 1943); a reference (1p) from Captain Brooking, HMS MERCURY II, for Akehurst who had served under him from December 1943 to April 1946 as a Radar Officer (May 1946); six membership cards to clubs in London and Sussex in the name of G B Akehurst; a portrait photograph of Akehurst, a smaller photo of Akehurst aboard a ship, and three photographs of ships.
