14 letters written to his parents during April – July 1982 while serving as NAAFI Manager in the Royal Navy destroyer HMS ANTRIM at the time of the Falklands War, providing a personal commentary on the ship's preparation for and participation in that conflict, with descriptions of some of the principal events in which ANTRIM was involved, notably in support of the main landings at San Carlos Water on 21st May during which the ship suffered considerable damage by Argentinian air attacks, commenting also on the progress of the recapture of the islands as news was received by ANTRIM, and writing about the death of his close friend Tony Marshall, a Royal Navy cook who was killed when HMS SHEFFIELD caught fire following an Argentinian missile strike on 4th May; with associated documents including newspapers / newspaper cuttings, photographs, documents pertaining to the HMS ANTRIM families' support network and the welcoming back of the ship to Portsmouth in July 1982, etc.
