Ts paper (54pp, written April 1920) entitled 'Source Material of Relief Organisations in Scotland' by N M Scott (later Lady Walton), a lecturer in Economic History at Glasgow University, in order to record the source material relating to relief organisations which had operated in Scotland during the First World War, with the organisations divided into three categories for: Permanent Associations, including the Red Cross, Erskine Hospital (Princess Louise Scottish Hospital for Limbless Sailors and Soldiers), the Scottish Veterans Garden City Association, Scottish Blinded Soldiers and Sailors Hostel, the YMCA, and Prince Albert Workshops for the Training of Disabled Soldiers and Sailors; Temporary Associations Under a Permanent Authority, including the Belgian Relief Fund, and the Lord Provost of Glasgow's Fund for the Dependants of Soldiers and Sailors; and Temporary Associations including, the Scottish Women's Hospitals, Prisoners of War Funds, Foreign Relief Funds, Comforts Funds, Russian Commercial and Educational Fund, Serbian Refugees, and Important branches of English Funds. In each case the work of the organisation, its administration and funding and the location of its records (as of 1920) are described. Of particular interest is the section on the Scottish Women's Hospitals, where all published sources, including both books and articles are listed, and some unpublished sources are also suggested.
