A large scrapbook containing papers relating to his service with 213 Machine Gun Company, 186th Infantry Brigade (62nd Division), as well as information about 185th and 187th Brigades, and including: his detailed personal ms diary (January - August 1917), with details of his duties and movements; a ms narrative (5pp) of 213 MG Coy form the time they landed in France until the attack on the Hindenburg Line (February - May 1917); very detailed ms and ts reports from the Brigades and from 213, 201, 212 and 208 Machine Gun Companies on the attack on Bullecourt (3 May 1917), with specific references to the use of machine guns in the attack; official VI Corps Daily Intelligence Summaries, 62nd Divisional Orders, Brigade Orders and Intelligence Reports; and other signals, reports, orders, maps, plans and blueprints of dugouts for machine gun nests, photographs, news clippings, booklets, and translations from captured German documents.
