Memoir (34pp ts, incl copies of wartime documents and photographs) of his Second World War army service and captivity as a prisoner of war in Germany, being called up from the TA into the 7th Battalion Royal Northumberland Fusiliers in September 1939, training at Alton, Hampshire, before proceeding on active service to northern France in April 1940 with a machine gun platoon of the Battalion, attached to 51st Highland Division, participating in actions along the Maginot Line and during the retreat to St Valery where he went into German captivity in June 1940, his subsequent experiences en route to and in POW camps at Thorn (Stalag XXA) and Marienburg (Stalag XXB), including various working parties in the vicinity of each, transfer to Heydebreck in early 1942 for construction and maintenance work associated with the IG Farben plant at that location, remaining there until January 1945 when the POWs were evacuated westwards, ending the forced march in Winklarn, eastern Bavaria, in April 1945, concluding with his repatriation to the UK.
