His ts Observer's and Air Gunner's Flying Log Book (166pp) recording his active service as an Air Observer with the RAF ((June 1941 – May 1945), including his training as a navigator with No 9 AOS, RAF Penrhos (June 1941 – October 1941), No 46 Course, 13 OTU (November 1941 – March 1942) and OADU (April 1942) and active service flying the Blenheim IV and the Bisley with No 34 Squadron RAF from airfields in India (April 1942 – June 1943), including operations bombing tribal villages on the North West Frontier (July 1942), on internal security reconnaissance flights (August 1942) and bombing operations against Japanese airfields, communications and troops in Burma (September 1942 – March 1943), and the Dakota with No 62 Squadron RAF from airfields in India and Burma (March 1944 – April 1945), undertaking supply drops and general transport flying on the 14th Army front, notably in support of the Second Chindit Expedition (Operation Thursday, March 1944) and during the Battle of Imphal (March 1944 – July 1944); and his return to the UK (May 1945). Also included are a ts copy of Intelligence Extract No 5 (2pp, January 1945) issued by the Intelligence Officer at the Headquarters of the Combat Cargo Task Force describing the Night Leaflet Mission of 22/23 January 1945 dropping leaflets on Burmese villages in Japanese occupied territory in the Arakan and South Central Burma and a ms letter (2pp, April 1980) from Brigadier Shelford Bidwell discussing supply drops to the Chindit columns.
