Correspondence relating to his service as a Sapper in the 55th Field Company Royal Engineers (RE) and his death in action on 18 December 1914, including: a ms diary (20pp) containing brief daily entries describing his movements and duties from his mobilisation in August 1914, a brief spell on Search Lights at Stack Rock Fort, moving to France (October 1914) at St Nazaire and Le Havre, moving to the front (November 1914), stringing barbed-wire and digging trenches near Sailly and ends on the day he was killed; a personal effects form; Army Form B104-82 informing Mrs Poole of her husband's death (January 1915); a Masonic Lodge programme for a meeting at which Poole's death would be commemorated (4pp, January 1915); a ms letter from Major A Brough, OC 55th Field Company RE to Mrs Poole informing her of her husband's death (January 1915); a ts letter informing Mrs Poole of where her husband was buried (1p, March 1915); a Commemorative Scroll; a letter from the RE Records Office concerning his medals (May 1922); programme for Festival of Remembrance (4pp, November 1937); Metropolitan Police order of service on the occasion of unveiling the Roll of Honour by King George VI (8pp, July 1950), together with a descriptive leaflet of the Roll (4pp); and a brown paper wrapper for a parcel which had been returned marked 'Killed'.
