A collection of letters sent to a civilian living in Twickenham, Middlesex, including five ms letters (28pp, plus envelopes) from her then boyfriend Marine George V Roddis of 23rd Light Anti-Aircraft Battery, Royal Marines (December 1940 - April 1941), talking of their romance, stopping at ports with no blackout restrictions, boredom of ship life, and rickshaw races, whilst sailing round Africa, and four ms letters (9pp plus envelopes) from another boyfriend (later husband) Pilot Officer W[?] Thomas, 233 Squadron Royal Air Force (RAF) (October - November 1942, Nov 1943), discussing his tiredness after night flights, with some details of the flights, working near Stranmaer, Scotland, and mentioning her going out for drinks with a 'Yank'. Together with a certificate of exemption from Fire Prevention Duties, due to her service as a part-time firewoman in the National Fire Service (1p, October 1942), and a letter regarding her discharge from the National Fire Service No 5 (London) Region and the return of the equipment issued to her (1p, April 1946).
