Ts memoir (94pp) covering his service (ultimately as a CQMS) in the 2nd Battalion, The London Rifle Brigade (April 1939 - December 1940) and the 1st Battalion, The Rifle Brigade (2nd then 22nd Armoured Brigade, 1st then 7th Armoured Division, January 1941 - April 1947) in Britain on training programmes, guard and defence duties, en route to Egypt via Cape Town in the STRATHAIRD (September - November 1941), in North Africa (November 1941 - September 1943), Italy (September - December 1943, Britain (January - June 1944), France and North West Europe (June 1944 - May 1945) and Germany as part of BAOR (May 1945 - April 1947) with good descriptions of conditions during the North African campaign, the difficulties of manning an anti-tank gun, the battles of Gazala, the El Alamein line, Alam Halfa and El Alamein, conditions in Italy, and in France during the Battle of Villers Bocage and Operation Goodwood, operations in Belgium and the Netherlands and in Germany both before and after VE Day, also 315 letters (with transcripts, September 1941 - April 1947), six pocket diaries (with transcripts, 1939 - 1941, 1943 - 1945), two scrapbooks filled with ephemera relating to his service and various other papers including two platoon roll books for 5 Platoon, B Company, 1st Battalion, The Rifle Brigade.
