Photocopies of 51 ms letters (111pp) written by a private, later Lance Corporal, in the Army Service Corps, to his sister Isabel in Stoke-on-Trent (January - March 1917, November 1917 - January 1918, June 1918 - February 1919), while serving in No 5 Motor Transport Company ASC stationed in Bromley, Kent (January 1917) and No 1 Formation Company ASC based at Bulford Camp, Salisbury (February 1917), and then service with the British Expeditionary Force in France and Belgium with 888th MT Company ASC (66th (2nd East Lancashire) Divison Supply Column) (March 1917 - ?), and 40th Division MT Company, ASC (June 1918 - ?), with throughout references to parcels received and their contents, his movements and duties, his thoughts on France and the war, seeing wounded, and many details of his business at home, Thomas Aidney & Son, which made colours for the pottery industry, and which Isabel was running while he was away. Together with a brief biography by his niece (1p, 1992).
