A collection of letters written to her parents whilst she and her brother were evacuated to Lamport in Nottinghamshire during the Second World War, including 33 ms letters from Joyce and Jim to their parents describing their changed life, picking blackberries and helping with the autumn harvest, giving a room by room description of their new house, requesting clothes and other items, mentioning school, and including drawings by Jim; 22 postcards from Jim to his parents and Joyce (1943-1945), reporting his activities, that he is happy, expressing his concern for them with flying bombs, and with the later postcards bearing many 'V's; 11 postcards (1946-1959) sent between Joyce, Jim and their parents post-war, mostly from Joyce from the Lake District in 1946; 3 photographs including a colourised photograph of Joyce taken in 1947; a certificate of thanks, Empire Day 1940; and a ts notice on Diet during the Second Year for children.
