A large collection of papers collected by his niece, Dr Shelagh Tyrrell, for a biography relating to his career in biochemistry, cancer research, and nutrition (researching vitamins), notably at University College, London (1919 – 1939) and as Chief Adviser on Food Contamination (October 1939 – January 1940) and Chief Scientific Adviser (February 1940 - 1946) at the Ministry of Food advising on the effects of wartime conditions on diet, food supplies and nutritional requirements and also advising SHAEF and the Allied Post War Requirements Bureau, notably in the relief of the starving Dutch, and the Control Commissions in Austria and Germany (1944 - 1946), including a file of letters, papers and photographs relating to his career and background; a file of research notes and correspondence with former colleagues collated by Dr Tyrrell; a file of his obituaries in newspapers and learned journals; a file of various pamphlets and articles relating to his career and research interests, including some of his own articles; and a file of photocopies of articles and books relating to his research interests, the problems of malnutrition and starvation during war, and his work with the Ministry of Food in the UK and North West Europe, notably the effects of wartime starvation at Belsen Concentration Camp and in Holland and Germany, including his own article on the nutritional requirements in wartime (11pp, June 1947).
