Private Papers of Sub Lieutenant G W Elton RNVR

Photocopy of a ms letter (3pp), written in June 1940 to his uncle, recounting his experiences as a civilian volunteer who signed up to take small boats across to Dunkirk as part of Operation Dynamo in May 1940, and mentioning the circumstances of his volunteering, some of his fellow volunteers, the route taken to Dunkirk and the sights on arrival. Sub Lieutenant G W Elton was later killed, 7 June 1942.
