Original well written and detailed ms diary (181pp) (September 1941 - June 1943, September 1943 - October 1945), with a photocopy of a ts transcription (95pp, including a forward written in 1972), written while he was a Lieutenant in 350th Battery, 137th (2nd West Lancashire) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, from heading out to the Far East, posting to Malaya, being captured by the Japanese (February 1942), and time spent as a prisoner of war in Changi Camp, Singapore (from February 1942), Kramji Naval W/T Station (from April 1942), before moving to camps on the Burma-Thailand Railway, at Ban Pong, Thailand (June 1942), Non Pladuk I (July 1942), Conquita (September 1943), Hinbato (December 1943), Non Pladuk II (March 1944), Tamuang (September 1944), and Kanburi (January 1945). Together with: a sheet of six photographic proofs of Sutcliffe in uniform; his POW Medical Card (2pp, May - June 1943); and a complete ms Battery Establishment Roll of 350 Battery, 137th Field Regiment RA, with names, ranks, numbers of all the members of the Battery and which sections they were in, as well as the dates and place of death of those who died in captivity.
