[BASIC ACCESSION RECORD] A collection of diaries, photographs and other items relating to his time as a prisoner of war, having been captured while a Lieutenant with 1st Battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry (DCLI) (21st Indian Infantry Brigade, 10th Indian Division) at Tobruk (June 1941), including: five volumes of ms diaries, some written as letters to his mother, starting in July 1942 at PG 66 (Capua), Italy, then in hospital in Caserta (October - November 1942), in PG 35 (Padula) (November 1942 - August 1943), Bologna (August - September 1943), being moved to Germany, including time at Marsburg camp, before ending in Oflag XIIB (Hadamar) (September 1943 to his liberation in 1945); a notebook containing details of the battle of Tobruk; his prisoner of war log book; a large number of photographs of different plays put on in the camp; an autograph book; notebooks of sketches and watercolours.
