Ts transcript (17pp) of short diary entries in notebooks kept by a Private in the RAMC (January 1915, June 1915 – April 1916, May 1917 – July 1918) covering his enlistment and also: service with the 41st Field Ambulance RAMC (13th Division) in the Dardanelles (July – November 1915) with brief details of his journey to Lemnos, duties fetching in the wounded under shellfire and gunfire, as well as collecting stores and rations; treatment in hospitals on Malta and at Bournemouth after being evacuated with dysentery (December 1915 – March 1916); service attached to unit(s) in England (May – October 1917); service with the 30th Field Ambulance RAMC (10th Division) in Palestine and Egypt (November 1917 – June 1918 until the unit was disbanded) including details of his overland journey to Taranto in Italy and onward voyage to Egypt, mention of his duties during the Palestine campaign which included carrying despatches, bringing in wounded Turks, escorting children to safety (1 January 1918), helping make mule litters for the wounded and building a field hospital, also references to Divisional actions around Jerusalem and on the Jericho Front, the mutilation and murder of prisoners by the Turks (March 1918) and the enemy use of aircraft (especially April – May 1918); service with an unidentified infantry unit in Egypt and en route to France via Italy (June – July 1918), with brief notes also for December 1918 – January 1919 while he was still serving in France and a few additional details.
