Ts covering letter (2pp) from the former staff officer and operations officer (North Africa) for Special Operations Executive, dated 12 October 1986 and addressed to the historian Anthony Verrier together with the original enclosures: a ts letter (2pp) dated 29 November 1942 to Colonel Brien Clarke, head of the SOE unit in Gibraltar in 1942, from Colonel Bill Eddy, United States Marine Corps and officer of the US Office of Strategic Services in which he discusses the situation in North Africa after the TORCH landings with references also to the relaying of OSS messages in the first days after the operation and insight into American policies regarding the region and Admiral Darlan; a carbon ts report (13pp) by Clarke on SOE and TORCH, dated December 1942 and covering cooperation between OSS and SOE, duties carried out by the SOE detachment in Gibraltar including the technical support for OSS as part of general preparations for the landings in North Africa, also details of General Mark Clark's clandestine mission by submarine to meet French military leaders in Algeria and of General Eisenhower's arrival in Gibraltar with his staff as well as the content of messages exchanged prior to TORCH and a description of General Giraud's exfiltration to Gibraltar from Vichy France.
