Papers relating to No 4 Squadron RNAS (No 204 Squadron RAF) principally during operations in France and Belgium, prior to and after he joined the unit as a pilot with the rank of Lieutenant in May 1918, including combat records (with photocopies of three sheets relating to aerial combats in which he was involved and an annotated 16pp ts squadron history), together with nine quarterly reports written during his Second World War service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the RAMC commanding 175 Field Ambulance (152nd Brigade, 51st Division), October 1942 - December 1943, No 3 (British) Casualty Clearing Station, January 1944 - January 1945, and 77 British General Hospital, January - April 1945, comprising a detailed record of operations by each of the units with useful references to: the Battles of El Alamein, Wadi Akarit and other actions during the North African campaign; the Sicily landings and treatment of civilians, battlefield casualties and malaria cases; preparations for the invasion of Normandy, landing on D+1 and treatment of casualties during the subsequent campaign in France and North West Europe including casualties from Arnhem and Nijmegen; and conditions for 77 BGH in Ghent; and also photocopies of official papers and propaganda leaflets (8 items), 1943 - 1945, three maps of North Africa and North West Europe and two illustrated airgraphs to his daughter (one original and one photocopy) dated 1943.
