A brief ts memoir (9pp) covering his service 1941 – 1947 as an officer with 5th Battalion Borders Regiment 1942 – 1943in Britain and with 12th Royal Tank Regiment (21st Tank Brigade) 1943-1945 in North Africa and Italy, referring to his training as a volunteer with 61st Training Regiment Royal Armoured Corps, his training at103 OCTU at Perham Down, his journey to North Africa, his involvement in the battle for Tunis, his interactions with American airmen, his lack of skill in driving tanks, his thoughts on his commanding officers, his role in screening surrendered enemy personnel and the repatriation of "White Russians" and his peace keeping role in the Istrian Peninsular with 7th Armoured Brigade 56th Division at the end of the war. Also included is a transcript of a letter sent to his father from his commanding officer commending his work, a short biography detailing his post war career as an academic of Western and Russian music and a transcript of a newspaper article dated 23 April 1943 describing how he discovered six previously unknown minuets by Hayden which he obtained from a German prisoner of war at the end of the war. Together with a photocopy of a photograph of Davis in uniform.
