Word-processed transcription (28pp) of letters written by him to his parents in Oxford (June – December 1944) while serving with 5th Battalion Royal Tank Regiment (22nd Armoured Brigade, 7th Armoured Division) covering his landing in Normandy (probably D-Day + 1), and advance through France (August 1944), Belgium and Holland (October 1944) into Germany (December 1944) until his death in action in February 1945, including good details of his experiences as an officer in action, in particular in June and August 1944, and interesting notes on the crossing and landing in Normandy, his good morale and the emotional toll brought about by casualties to his men, his confidence in the Churchill tanks and pride in the men in his sections, conditions at the front and rations, being under bombardment, entertainment, and the reception given them by French civilians. Also with the transcription is a letter by his commanding officer following his death in hospital in Nijmegan, giving details of the circumstances of his wounding in action.
