Photocopies (24pp) of a small collection of letters and postcards sent to his parents in South East London by a Gunner in the 118th Field Regiment RA, comprising three ms letters written during his troopship voyage from the United Kingdom to the Far East and describing the 'crossing the line' ceremony on board, other entertainments and the outstanding hospitality and scenery ashore in South Africa (October – December 1941), five essentially pro-forma postcards – one marked 'damaged by fire in transit' – that he was permitted to write by the Japanese during his time as a prisoner of war in Singapore and Thailand (ca June 1942 – June 1944), one ms letter written from Nakom Nyok prisoner of war camp in Thailand celebrating his liberation and giving some details about his health and pay and mail during captivity (25 August 1945) and two ms letters written from a hospital and transit camp in Rangoon, Burma principally describing their flight in an aircraft from Bangkok to Rangoon and his happiness with the standard of medical attention, food and entertainment being given to the ex-prisoners of war (September 1945); together with a photocopy of photographs of him, and his brothers, in uniform (1941).
