Interesting ts account (6pp, written in 1986) describing the operations of 5th Royal Horse Artillery (RHA) (22nd Armoured Brigade, 7th Armoured Division) at Villers Bocage in Normandy, France (12 -15 June 1944), including the uneventful advance to Villers Bocage (12 – 13 June 1944) and the subsequent clashes with German infantry and Tiger tanks in Villers Bocage (13 June 1944); being shelled by heavy artillery and sniped at as the Germans exerted great pressure, launching a heavy counter attack which although supported by tanks was thrown back with heavy casualties (14 June 1944); the withdrawal from Villers Bocage (15 June 1944); and commenting on the use of artillery en masse by the AGRA, the American Liaison Officer from the 186th Field Artillery Battalion USA, the heavy casualties, stalking German snipers, German shelling, having to employ gunners as infantry, and the heavy German losses.
