Bound ts collection of personal accounts (67pp, collected and compiled by Major J Truscott c 1998, HQ Special Operations, Australia) about the activities of Operation SEMUT behind Japanese lines in North Borneo (March – October 1945) based on oral and written testimonies of Australian operatives and local guerrillas (over 60 interviewed) in which they describe the nature of the warfare, the deprivations experienced especially hunger, the personality clashes between the leaders of the four parties, the goodwill and trust placed in the Allies by the locals and their innate antipathy for the Japanese, including discussion of the background of the operation, its organisation, training of the operatives before they parachuted into Borneo (early 1945) and the Japanese knowledge of SEMUT activities. Illustrated throughout with copies of photographs of those involved.
