Good collection (11 files) of papers and photographs (c.1942 - 1945) relating to his imprisonment at Oflag 79, Brunswick following his recapture on escaping from the prisoner of war camp at Chieti, Italy (PG 21), where he was held while serving with 11th Battalion Honourable Artillery Company, Royal Horse Artillery (RHA); including ts and ms administration papers and notices produced by the POW officers covering entertainment and religious services, camp life, and plans for the dispersal of the camp on liberation, ms and printed papers relating to proposals for the endowment of a 'Boys Club' in London by the POWs of Oflag 79, printed maps of the Brunswick area produced in the camp, ts reports and correspondence concerning treatment and living conditions at Oflag 79, ts and ms papers relating to his attendance as a witness at a war crimes trial held in Brunswick (November 1946) together with a copy of a statement made by him in August 1944, and photographs, taken mostly clandestinely by a POW, of the camp, billets, the arrival of US troops, theatre productions, and the opening of the 'Brunswick Boy's Club' in London. Also included are two watercolours showing prison accommodation (1945).
