Photocopies of 72 ms letters (211pp) written by her to her mother (January 1940 - September 1945) during her service as an officer with the ATS, covering her posting as second in command (later company commander) of the 40th North Riding Company, based at the Green Howard's Depot, Richmond, Yorkshire (1939 - May 1941), on the administrative staff of HQ Northern Command, York (May 1941 - October 1944), with G3 Division, SHAEF, France and Germany (October 1944 - June 1945), and on the maintenance staff of HQ Northern Command, York (September - December 1945), including details of her training as an officer, her position as first Staff-College trained woman on General Staff at Northern Command (1942), her duties in the preparations for D-Day and the strain of the months preceding June 1944, her duties and experiences in France with SHAEF, relationships with her American counterparts, and VE and VJ celebrations, with some comments on morality among the girls of 40th North Riding Company, and the blitz on York; together with a copy of a section from her memoir (36pp, written post 1945) covering her service in the ATS and her post war inclination towards welfare work, six photographs of her in uniform, including a group photograph of 40th North Riding Company, and copies of some other papers relating to her service.
