Word processed transcription (234pp) of letters written by him during his service with 27th Field Ambulance, RAMC (September 1914 - November 1918), covering his training in Aldershot, posting to France (May 1915) to various locations including Festubert and Givenchy (August 1915), Ypres (October 1915 and October 1918), Bailleiul (March 1916), Wulverghem (May 1916), Arras (March 1917), and St Julien (October 1917), with well written notes on his experiences as a stretcher bearer during the Battle of Loos (September 1915), the gas attack at Wulverghem (May 1916), the Battle of Arras (April 1917), and at Passchendaele (October 1917), trench conditions, entertainment, the comfort derived from literature and poetry (July 1915), his first experiences in the firing line (August 1915), casualties and the effects of being gassed, working on the trenches at Ypres, his opinion of army chaplains, the bullying behaviour of his sergeant major, celebrations on Armistice night, conditions in liberated Germany and his entrance into Germany; together with a playscript written by him based on his wartime experiences.
