Photocopy of an original ts memoir (13pp) and ts transcription, including an introduction and appendix (18pp), written in 1919, relating her unusual and often amusing experiences serving with the Land Service Corps, May 1915 – early 1919, detailing her reasons for enlisting, the training she received at Baddow in Essex where she learnt how to milk cows, make hay as well as hoe and plough fields, her impressions of her uniform, the daily activities she undertook when she was employed at an isolated farm belonging to Lord Radleigh near Tering as well as how she gradually gained the respect of the male farmers and field hands she worked alongside, until she was involved in a road accident that left her temporarily unable to perform the strenuous duties expected of her, continuing with her taking up another position later on at Foxlease Park in Lyndhurst, again providing some good descriptions of the tasks she carried out on the large farm and how she spent her leisure time, also expressing throughout in a humorous manner how fulfilling and enjoyable she found her work despite the initial hostility and the day to day discomforts she faced, ending with Foxlease Park being sold and her moving to India in order to get married.
