Photocopies of 48 ms letters, one in Welsh, (141pp), and 12 ms postcards (14pp), March - September 1915, written to his family whilst serving as a Private with the 87th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps (29th Division) at Gallipoli, describing conditions onboard the troopship, sailing through the Bay of Biscay, docking at Malta and disembarking in Egypt to help in the construction of a military camp, embarking for Gallipoli, the beach landings at Gallipoli and his admiration for the bravery of the British troops, his duties as a stretcher bearer at the front line and the problems raised by the terrain when moving the wounded, the sinking of the LUSITANIA, the lack of news from France, his journey via ship to a hospital in Malta after contracting dysentery and returning to England for a period of convalescence; together with a photocopied ms letter (1p), 9 August 1915, and postcard to his sister; 2 photocopied ts accounts (24pp), written by Harry Harris, of a battlefield pilgrimage to Gallipoli in 1936 and a photocopied ts account (7pp) of a similar trip, author and date unknown.
