Ms letter written in 1944 while she was living as an evacuee in Manitoba, Canada together with 46 ts letters written by Mr and Mrs A E Hall, the distantly related foster parents who cared for her in Canada after she left her family home in Bristol as a five year old in the summer of 1940. Written between 5 August 1940 and 19 June 1941 and between 29 January and 26 May 1942, with a few letters dating from 1944, the correspondence (some pages missing) covers initial travel arrangements and gives a detailed account of her daily activities and her special status as an overseas evacuee from England, as well as providing an interesting picture of family life in Canada, occasional comments on war news, an insight into the patriotism of her foster parents and their delight, as a childless couple, in having her entrusted to their care. Also 4 ts letters from a friend of the Halls with news of their foster child and various correspondence and other papers relating to her evacuation and to her parents' radio broadcasts.
