Ts memoir (18pp) describing his experiences in the First World War, beginning with his commission in the 11th (Reserve) Battalion The Yorks and Lancaster Regiment (90th Brigade, 30th Division) and training at Harrogate (December 1914 - July 1915), his journey to Gallipoli attached to the 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) (86th Brigade, 29th Division) (August 1915), where he describes the stress of being constantly under fire, his time spent at No 27 General Hospital at Mudros West with a foot infection (December 1915 - January 1916), his evacuation to Hamrun Convalescent Hospital (January - February 1916) and later return to his Division, now in France (March 1916), his emergency journey to Poperinghe to visit his brother who was dying of pneumonia (April 1916), his own stay at No 1 Red Cross Hospital at Le Touquet with trench fever (June 1916), his time spent with the 3rd (Reserve) Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment and the 51st (Graduated) Battalion King's Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry) (217th Brigade, 72nd Division) at Otley where he served on several Courts Martial and describes the Court Martial of a Lieutenant suffering from shell shock, his instruction for the Royal Flying Corps where he was trained in wireless telephony as part of No 143 Squadron RFC (June - October 1918), his descriptions of being in London for the Armistice announcement and his post-war work in the RFC until he was sent to Fort Pitt Military Hospital at Chatham with appendicitis and later demobilised. Also included is a photograph of Brook's brother's grave in France and a copy of a portrait photograph of Brooke
