Ts transcription (8pp) of a conversation he had with his son shortly before his death in 1983, recounting his experiences while serving firstly with the Royal Berkshire Regiment in the United Kingdom between March and November 1916 and then with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry in France until November 1918, where he was responsible for line and trench maintenance and laying barbed wire, seeing action at Arras, Bethune, and Ypres; in early 1918 he was involved in the attack on the Hindenburg Line and did further line maintenance in the Ypres Salient. Also included is a ts transcription (2pp) of a newspaper article from June 1972 concerning Willis and his wartime experiences, a copy of a photograph of the Royal Berkshire Regiment c. 1920 and two copies of photographs showing him at ages 19 and 22.
