Object description

Papers relating to his work as a part-time Company Officer with the London Auxiliary Fire Service, stationed at Lee Green in south-east London during the Second World War, consisting largely of official memoranda, routine orders, correspondence and related papers, including a notebook containing details of assistance rendered by his Company to V-1 ('flying bomb') targets in SE London during 1944-45; together with a small quantity of newspaper cuttings, AFS / NFS ephemera, and two wartime calendars with artists' scenes of the Blitz; also a personal note of thanks from Field Marshal B L Montgomery, dated September 1944, on the occasion of his promotion to that rank, and four items of correspondence dated 1943 between Green and Sir Stafford Cripps, Minister of Aircraft Production, concerning aircraft losses during early radar trials at RAF Defford.

A non-voided gilt metal Royal Engineers headdress badge, the badge is shaped around the emblem which comprises GRV monogram within crowned Garter surrounded by a laurel wreath, there is a scroll below embossed with the name of the regiment 'ROYAL ENGINEERS', the badge is complete with a slider.
