Well written ts memoir (93pp, written in 2000) of a bomb aimer covering his service from joining the RAF in April 1940 to his demobilisation in March 1946, describing in detail his training as an engine fitter at RAF ST Athan, South Wales (May - August 1940); his flight mechanic training and service at No 1 Air Armament School, RAF Manby, Lincolnshire (September 1940 - January 1942), where during 1941 the drome was attacked by German aircraft; his pilot training at No 6 ITW Aberystwyth (April - August 1942) and No 7 EFTS Desford, Leicestershire (August - September 1942); his bomb aimer training in Dumfries (November 1942 - March 1943) where he gained his commission as Pilot Officer; his posting to No 29 OTU North Luffenham (March - September 1943) at the end of which he was promoted to Flying Officer; his posting to No 57 Squadron at East Kirkby, Lincolnshire (September 1943 - April 1944), where he flew operations in Lancasters over Germany, with Berlin as the target several times (November 1943 - February 1944); and then No 97 Pathfinder Squadron at RAF Coningsby (April - November 1944), with targets in enemy occupied France and then through North West Europe in support of the advancing Allied armies, and during which he was awarded the DFC (May 1944); before he returned to East Kirkby where he carried out bombing and radar navigation instructional duties (November 1944 - March 1946), and where he met his wife (who he married 9 June 1945) who was serving with the WAAF.
