Anecdotal ts memoir (61pp) written about his experiences growing up during the Second World War (aged ten when war broke out) living with his family in Gosport, Hampshire, describing preparations for war, his evacuation to Titchfield, Hampshire, for six weeks during the Phoney War, raids over Gosport (especially during August 1940), moving with his family to Rottingdean, near Brighton (during 1941 when his father was posted there with the Royal Navy), school life and the pastime of collecting shrapnel and other war souvenirs including those from a crashed Dornier (autumn 1941), food rationing, wartime entertainment, fraternising with Canadian soldiers stationed nearby prior to the Dieppe Raid (August 1942) and British troops before the Normandy Landings (June 1944), witnessing Allied bombers flying overhead on their way to raids over enemy territory, V1 rocket attacks, his first love with a London evacuee and the VE Day celebrations (8 May 1945) after which he returned to Gosport.
