Photocopied ts memoir (67pp), written ca 1925, recording his service as a Church of England Chaplain to the Forces in Egypt and Palestine, November 1916 - 1919, recording his embarkation on the SS KALYAN to Alexandria via Malta and Salonika, journey to Cairo from where he was ordered to join the 27th General Hospital at Abbassia (December 1916 - January 1917), sightseeing in Egypt, the lack of soldiers attending his services and general apathy towards religious matters, his posting to various units around Heliopolis including No 21 (Reserve) Squadron RFC (February 1917) and Nasrieh Hospital (March 1917), then attached to the 162nd Infantry Brigade (54th Division) serving in the front line trenches (September - December 1917), where he refers to the infantry assaults and shelling that he witnessed during the Third Battle of Gaza, and actions during the ensuing advance north towards Jerusalem. Together with a ts transcription (4pp) of diary entries covering the period December 1917 - January 1918.
