125 ms/ts letters (480pp) written to his family (February 1946 - February 1948) while serving with the RAF in Africa and Palestine, describing his journey to Egypt on board CAPE TOWN CASTLE calling at Malta and Naples, his initial posting at RAF HQ MEF No 21 Transit Camp at Kassfreet, near Suez, conditions at the camp, his transfer to HQ 216 Group at Heliopolis near Cairo (March 1946), his training as a Clerk and his duties in P3 Section (Personnel Department), his brief posting to Palestine (July 1946), return to Cairo (August 1946) and leave in Cyprus (September - October 1946), promotion to LAC (November 1946), with comments on his lifestyle in Cairo and the British withdrawal to the Suez Canal (March 1947), his transfer to Niarobi in Kenya (May 1947) and then Mogadishu in Somalia (June 1947), with descriptions of his lifestyle there and the civil unrest in the region between the Italian colonists and native Somalians (January 1948); together with 159 related photographs (mostly photocopies) including some of him in uniform, two ts newsletters (10pp, undated) and one ts training pamphlet (2pp, undated).
