3 flying log books covering his training with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in Australia and Canada (September 1940 to June 1941), operational training in the United Kingdom (July 1941 to April 1942) until being badly injured baling out after a mid air collision and a final period of training (April to June 1943), then on operations flying Mosquitos with No 139 Squadron RAF Light Night Striking Force, Bomber Command (July 1943 - March 1944) on precision raids against targets in Germany, which included 12 raids on Berlin, followed by a further tour of operations with No 635 Squadron RAF Pathfinder Force. The log books, which contain very detailed descriptions of all of his operations and, for his tour with No 635 Squadron include pasted in aerial photographs, together with the postagram from Air Chief Marshal A T (Bomber) Harris in November 1944, offering congratulations the award of the DSO in 1944, are accompanied by a number of photographs of Swan and his crews; reprints of Pilot's Notes for Lancaster II and Mosquito NF38 aircraft, invitations for 50th anniversary thanksgiving dinners and ceremonies held in 1994.
