Ts transcription of his letters (136pp, edited with an introduction (15pp, written in 1990) by his younger brother), often written in an introspective frame of mind, sent mostly to his family (January 1941 - May 1944) while he was working at the Air Ministry (January - October 1941) and then serving as a bomb aimer with Royal Air Force (RAF) Bomber Command, until his death in action during his first bombing raid over France on night of 7/8 May 1944, describing life on the Home Front while living with his family in Hounslow, Middlesex, while at the Air Ministry, his interview to join the RAF (August 1941), his university course as an RAF cadet at Southampton University (October 1941 - March 1942) and describing how the cadets were treated, with a detailed description of his first day flying (February 1942), his training (firstly as a pilot before he was switched to bomb aimer) at RAF Heaton Park (June 1942), New Brunswick, Manitoba and Ontario, in Canada (July 1942 - June 1943), with details of the journey to Canada and of life abroad, the relative abundance of food, the hospitality of Canadian families and the friendships he formed, with particular reference to girls and his subsequent engagement to one of them, RAF Jurby, Isle of Man (July - August 1943), Market Harborough, Leicestershire (September 1943 - December 1943), Scampton, Lincolnshire (January - February 1944), Wigsley, Nottinghamshire (February - April 1944), and finally his posting to No 49 Squadron at RAF Fiskerton, Lincolnshire (May 1944), seeking parental advice throughout on personal issues of religion and his plans for his life, in particular his career, after the war.
