Ts memoir (14pp, written in 1998) of a doctor describing his investiture at Buckingham Palace on VE Day, having been awarded the George Medal for giving a trapped casualty a blood transfusion after a V1 rocket attack in Willesden, North London (July 1944); together with a further ts illustrated account (15pp, written in 2004) briefly describing a school trip to the Rhineland in 1935, before giving details of his wartime service with the Emergency Medical Service, his first posting to Friern Barnet Hospital, North London, to treat air raid casualties, his witnessing of the Luftwaffe's assault on RAF Biggin Hill (17 August 1940), while walking near Westerham, Kent, street scenes in London during the Blitz and the efforts of the Civil Defence, such as the functions of the Warden's Post, to help victims of the air raids, and his duties (from late 1942) as Deputy Medical Officer of Health for Willesden and Civil Defence Medical Officer for Middlesex.
