Photocopies of 38 ms letters and cards written to his family between 24 October 1939 and 27 March 1942 during training at No 3 SFTS RAF South Cerney and at No 7 AOS RAF Porthcawl, South Glamorgan (circa October 1939 - January 1940), flying Ansons at RAF Andover, and at RAF Old Sarum (February - March 1940), with No 26 Army Reconnaissance Squadron including service in France (May 1940), at RAF Lympe and RAF West Malling (May - June 1940), at No 7 OTU flying spitfires at RAF Hawarden near Chester (August 1940), with No 610 Squadron at RAF Acklington, near Morpeth (September 1940) with No 41 Squadron at RAF Hornchurch (October 1940), as an instructor and chief instructor at the OTU RAF Grangemouth (February 1941) and No 53 OTU at RAF Llandow (October 1941 - February 1942) and finally with No 234 Squadron at RAF Warmwell, Dorset, with useful details of conditions under training including mention of strict discipline and the high failure rate and references to the strain he was under in May 1940, operations against enemy aircraft (October 1940) and his dissatisfaction with RAF Llandow; together with copies of the telegrams sent by his squadron after he was listed as missing on 16 April 1942, official correspondence relating to his death, newspaper cuttings and photographs.
