Papers concerning his service with the 2/3rd Northumbrian Field Ambulance RAMC, British Salonika Force, during the First World War, comprising his ms pocket diary (235pp, September 1916 - November 1917) with regular entries giving brief details of the journey from Southampton to Salonika and subsequent movements through Macedonia, his daily duties, enemy bombardments, weather conditions, sport and entertainments and his birthday celebrations, along with official correspondence (21pp, January 1921 - July 1922) concerning his pension, demobilisation and discharge certificates, and also his Mounted Discharge certificate (16 April 1919), military entertainment programmes (4pp, 1917-1918), newspaper cuttings from 'Salonika News' (5pp, 1918) regarding British military operations, printed souvenir booklet (68pp) entitled 'Salonika Memories 1915-1919' (produced in 1969 by the Salonika Reunion Association), together with miscellaneous items including his identification tag and medals and a 'Served with honour but was disabled in the Great war' certificate. The collection also includes a series of 48 photographs of him and other service personnel in uniform and views of Salonika, many with annotations on reverse (1916 - 1918).
