Letter (4pp ms) written to his wife in June 1945 while he was serving as a Medical Officer with the BLA in northern Germany, describing in some detail his examination of the former Nazi Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop, who had been apprehended by British soldiers in Hamburg a few days previously; Thompson comments on Ribbentrop's continued arrogance (until submitted to a strip-search), and describes the discovery of a small tin of poison 'strapped to an intimate portion of his anatomy'.
