Small collection of documents kept by a subaltern in the 6/1st Battalion Punjab Regiment relating to his time as a prisoner of war in the Far East, including an illustrated Japanese propaganda leaflet picked up during the Malayan campaign, the identification badge worn by him throughout his captivity, two ts orders (1p) issued by the 44th Indian Infantry Brigade in Changi camp, Singapore in March - April 1942 concerning disciplinary action against prisoners attempting to escape, a ts order (1p) concerning officers' dress in Changi in 1942 and a blank non-escape declaration form, ts translation (1p) of the instructions from the Japanese authorities in Selarang about the behaviour of prisoners of war on working parties and in saluting their captors, letters received from Australia by Le Vine's family after a message from him was broadcast on the Japanese controlled Radio Saigon (March - May 1944), the theatre programme for the production of 'Speakeasy' at Changi (September 1944), a ts Christmas Day menu (1p) from Changi (1944), a ts memorandum (1p) giving details of the whereabouts of some other ranks in the 6/1st Punjabs in August 1945 and a Japanese occupation banknote signed by some of the women from the Red Cross of India who entered Changi shortly after its liberation. Le Vine was a prisoner of war in Singapore from February 1942 - August 1945, apart from a period with H Force on the Burma-Siam railway during 1943.
