Ts memoir (256pp) describing his education at Stowe School and Christ Church College, Oxford (1923 - 1928); his arctic expeditions (1933 - 1936); his service with the RNVR and attachment to Military Intelligence Research (MIR) on a mission to Finland to provide support to Finnish forces during the Soviet invasion (December 1939 - March 1940); service with Brigadier Colin Gubbins initially with the Independent Companies (latterly the Commandos) in Norway (April 1940) and subsequently establishing the Auxiliary Units (July - December 1940); his role as Military Attache to Sweden (July 1941 - November 1942); his command of No 1 Troop, 14 Commando carrying out sabotage operations in Norway (November 1942 - May 1943); his service with the Special Operations Executive (SOE) at their Mediterranean Headquarters in Algiers, known as MASSINGHAM, and time with the submarine HMS SERAPH (April - September 1943); service with resistance units on Corsica and mainland France where he coordinated Operation SNOW WHITE, an attempt to prevent German counter attacks after the DRAGOON landings in southern France (July - September 1944); his service in Denmark helping to demobilise remnants of the German Army (May - July 1945) and numerous post war expeditions to the arctic and India (1945 - 1953).
